Namco Bandai have released the first PV for the newly announced 3D action team-battle game Super Robot Wars OG INFINITE BATTLE. The game features robots from the Original Generations universe. In addition, the official site has been set up, though it’s only a placeholder at the moment.
The video confirms my worst fears as it seems the gameplay is quite clunky ala Gundam Breake/Robot Damashii style. Still, the actual “Dark Prison” DLC looks rather interesting.
Also some tidbits from the interview with Terada:
- The game was born out of Terada’s desire to play action games, the merger of B.B studio and BEC helped achieve this.
- There is a limit on 4 robots in battle at the same time, but you can have various combinations such as 3v1, 2v2 etc, 1v1 etc.
- Robot sizes were not perfectly implemented (as seen in the video). Also there is no transformation system in the game, so variable units like R-1 etc cannot transform.
- There is no concept of EN in the game, however stronger weapons have longer reload time.
- They wanted to transfer the image of the 2D animations into the 3D battle, but maintaining the tempo of the game was a real challenge.
INFINITE BATTLE is due out on 28th November for 7,480Y. A limited edition will also be available for 8,980Y.
OMG!!! I will still play it!! But it looks a little clunky…. Hopefully this is early gameplay, cause it doesn’t look textured enough really. And hopefully more mechs
I just read that they confirmed over 40 mechs in this game!!! WHAT!!!! do you know what ones yet…. I count 10 (6 announced + 4 pictured) who are the other 30? I’m going crazy!! I already preordered and paid for it!!! I must know!
